Day trips by car
Using Skjåk Turistheim as a base it’s possible to see some of Norway’s most famous fjords and mountains in a single day.

One of the most popular trips is the drive to Geiranger. Here you can take the ferry past Geirangerfjord to Hellesylt, and all the way to Stryn. Once at Stryn you can either take Route 15 through the tunnels, or drive the old ”Strynefjellsvegen” back to Skjåk Turistheim.

Another route from Geiranger is Ørnefjellsvegen over to Eidsdal. From there the ferry takes approximately 10 minutes over to Linge. The drive continues up the impressive Trollstigen (Troll's Ladder) to Åndalsnes, and from there through Romsdalen to Lesja following the picturesque Slådalsvegen over to Våga and on through Ottadalen back to Skjåk Turistheim.

If you drive to Lom and continue in the direction of Bøverdalen, you’ll come to Sognefjellet. Here too you can take a roundtrip by continuing down to Sognefjorden, further on to Stryn and back to your starting point.
